Marshmallow

(Althaea officinalis) Grows to a height of 150cm. A hardy perennial which has pretty pale pink/lavender flowers in autumn.It is similar in growing habit to Hollyhocks.

This is an old medicinal herb used in cold remedies, acid reflux, mouth ulcers, stomatitis, gingivitis, night sweats, and constipation. The leaves and flowers can be infused in olive oil and added to salves and natural bath products. Marsh mallow is a very good skin softener and healer.

Sow early Spring/early Summer, and late Summer/early Autumn.
